Last night, I was on the scene at the GRIOT Gala Oscar Night After Party for Getty Images. I was a little nervous when I learned the event was an after party because anything after 11:00 PM is past my bedtime. But to my delight… the red carpet started on time, I was home by 10:45 with photos processed & submitted by 12:00 AM. Not too bad… 🙂
The gala… held at “District by Hannah” Crustacean was star studded and served as a celebration honoring casting director Leah Daniels-Butler and Philanthropist Daphna Ziman, founder of Children Uniting Nations (CUN).
It was pretty cool to see Michael Jackson’s dad… Joe Jackson and everyone’s homegirl Lisa Raye! Check out some of the red carpet pics I snapped with the honorees, co-founder Reid Johnson, Film Director Matty Rich, Antwone Fisher and more:
The Griot stands for Giving Resources Inspiration and Opportunity to Talent with the aim to celebrate people of color in the industry, especially on Oscar night when the vast majority of talent is not invited to the great events.
